Introduction & About Me
Hello, my name is Jake Oseland. I’m an aspiring career
conservationist who is fascinated by wildlife. I hope to grow my knowledge
about the natural world and educate the public on the urgency of conservation.
I graduated with a media and film studies degree but have
begun work in conservation. I hope to combine my media related skills with my
passion for wildlife as a means to spread awareness.
I have recently started work as a project assistant with the
environmental organisation Groundwork and specifically work on Douglas
Challenge project. The River Douglas stretches 57km across and flows through
areas of Lancashire and Greater Manchester. The Douglas Challenge is a project
designed to restore the Douglas and improve its value as a home for wildlife.
I’ll be using this page as a journal to document my journey
as a new conservationist and to record the progress made as part of the Douglas
Challenge. So, if you are new to the world of conservation and want to gain an
insight into the type of work that it entails look no further. Similarly, if
you are interested in the River Douglas or conservation in general be sure to
check in for regular updates on the project.
Jake
